Kenya has moved away from a visa system to Electronic Travel Authorisation (eTA). All visitors including infants and children who intend to travel to the Republic of Kenya must have an approved eTA before the start of their journey.
Kenya eTA is a semi-automated system that determines the eligibility of visitors to travel to Kenya. An eTA offers permission to travel and is authorised by the Government of the Republic of Kenya.
The eTA application collects biographic information and answers to eligibility questions from the traveller. eTA applications for Kenya are usually processed in 3 days and there is an urgent processing service, however, it is recommended applications be submitted at least 2 weeks prior to travel to ensure adequate time for processing.
SWSD 2026 Notice on Ebola Risk Assessment, Monitoring, and Preparedness
The SWSD 2026 Steering Committee continues to closely monitor the Ebola outbreak currently affecting parts of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. At this time, there are no confirmed Ebola cases in Nairobi or anywhere in Kenya, and Kenyan health authorities have implemented a national Ebola preparedness response that includes enhanced surveillance at points of entry and within the healthcare system.
Based on current assessments by the World Health Organization (WHO), national public health authorities, and other relevant international health agencies, the risk to conference participants in Nairobi remains low. SWSD 2026 is proceeding as planned, and we will continue to monitor developments and provide updates should circumstances change.
Participants are encouraged to stay informed through official public health sources and to follow any travel or health guidance issued by relevant authorities.
